"Like a lot of companies, we have had to adapt to a market place that has changed a lot in the last five years. Economic conditions have really pushed the events industry to become more efficient, so people’s perception of value has also changed. Therefore, I think the role that a crewing company has to play in the contemporary event context has changed too. There will always be a place for “brute force” but I think clients want to see a more intelligent approach to crewing, where crew are able to not only take the sweat out of the job, but also offer skills and experience in a technical capacity on site. The obvious advantage to partnering with a crewing company in this way is that costs remain scalable by the hour, while benefiting from the sort of experience that traditionally came from freelance technicians who only price their services on a daily rate. So I think we are increasingly measured on our ability to perform on site in a technical capacity as well as our ability to provide an effective workforce for mass deployment in manual handling."
