On World Homelessness Day, we're asking: What if the creativity of the events industry could unlock real solutions to homelessness and inequality?
Today is World Homelessness Day, a chance to reflect on the scale and urgency of an issue that is the reality for more and more people in our communities.
Over the year ending March 2025, more than 320,000 households in England faced homelessness, the highest on record. London alone has nearly 183,000 people in temporary accommodation. (Crisis) Homelessness isn’t just about housing - it’s about equality, dignity, and opportunity.
So we are asking our network an important question: What more can events – an industry brimming with talent, energy, and creativity – do to tackle homelessness and inequality?
Spread the word or join the conversation on LinkedIn and help stimulate awareness, ideas and action.
This Autumn also marks Connection Crew’s 20th anniversary. Over two decades, we've delivered thousands upon thousands of events while creating more than a quarter of a million hours of living-wage work for people affected by homelessness.
So, to coincide with World Homelessness Week in December, we will publish our 20-Year Impact Report, showcasing the human stories behind those numbers, and opportunities for industries to make a meaningful social impact as contributions from this call-out will be compiled and included in the report, giving the sector a platform to shape the conversation.
Warren Rogers, Director of Connection Crew comments:
“Homelessness is primarily about the lack of safe and secure housing and other systemic issues. We can’t solve that alone, but we can create fair work and opportunities for people rebuilding their lives - I've witnessed what the talent in this industry can make happen. So the real question is: what more can the amazing individuals that make up the events industry do to remove barriers, open doors, and help end homelessness and inequality?”
As we build our report we’ll be exploring some of the big questions we’re wrestling with including:
The Living Wage: the challenge of a market that’s not keeping up
Inclusive venues and sites: and the barriers that exist for crew
Our Theory of Change: what really drives impact in our model
A Just Transition: how to balance people and planet in the years ahead
We want your perspective – can you tell us:
Events industry peers: What more can events and creative industries do to tackle homelessness and inequality?
Partners and wider network: What’s the single biggest barrier industries put up — or the one thing they could do differently — to create meaningful opportunities for people affected by homelessness?

Thank you for being part of this journey. On a day like today, we’re reminded: there’s still much more to do.
